Chulu West Peak
The Chulu West lies in the Annapurna region in the midhills. The Peak stands at a height of height of 6,419 meters. The Chulu mountain lies in a valley beyond Manang, the peak can also be seen from the popular trekking trail of the Thorong La. Ascending the Chulu may not be quite technical like climbing the difficult peak, but you still need some experience of ice climbing as you’d pass through snow plateau, narrow ridges, and Chulu glacier before reaching the top.

The Chulu expedition begins with the trek from Besi Sahar, about 7 hours drive from Kathmandu on the Pokhara road.  The valley adjacent to the Chulu, the Manang Valley is one of the world’s 0ighest valleys of the world situated at an altitude of 5000m. From Manang the route heads north to lead and on to the Chulu West Base camp.  Three days are set aside for ascending the peak and you head to Thorong-La and follow the same route to come back to Pokhara and Kathmandu.

Suggested Itinerary:
Day 01: Arrival Kathmandu & transfer hotel 1350m.
Day 02: Kathmandu Sightseeing & Preparation
Day 03: Drive to Besi Sahar
Day 04: Trek from Besi Sahar - Nyagdi
Day 05: Nyagdi -Jagat
Day 06: Jagat -Dharapani
Day 07: Dharapani -Chame
Day 08: Chame -Pisang Village
Day 09: Pisang – Manang
Day 10: Manang - rest for acclimatization
Day 11: Manang – Chulu west Base Camp 4000m.
Day 12: Chulu west high camp Aprox. 5000m.
Day 13: High camp - Summit 6419m and back to BC                                                
Day 15: Base Camp - Thorong Pass - Muktinath
Day 16: Muktinath - Jomsom
Day 17: Jomsom – Kalopani
Day 18: Kalopani – Tatopani
Day 19: Tatopani – Ghorepani
Day 20: Ghorepani – Tirkhedunga
Day 21: Tirkhedunga – Birethati, Nayapul & drive to Pokhara

Maximum number of members in a team is 12.
Garbage deposit A refundable garbage deposit has to be made for climbing any of the Group A & Group B category climbing peaks. The deposit mount of USD 250.00 must be deposited with the Nepal Mountaineers Association (NMA) which makes the refund according its provisions.
Notes:
  •  Each climbing team will fill up an application form provided by the NMA mentioning the partner trekking agency registered with the HMG and NMA and accompanied by a sirdar/guide registered with NMA.
  • The permit is valid for the period of one month only. The maximum number of the group size will be 12 persons.
  • An additional 25% charge of the total amount of the initial fee will be made for each extended week.
  • The leader or climbing member of the team must collect the permit in person from Nepal Mountaineering Association.
